Sakyie Oliphant, Website/Social Media Coordinator
Sakyie Oliphant received Moe's February Sloppy Kisses, the staff award that is given out each month to someone who has gone 'the extra mile' to do something special for the organization. Sakyie won our contest to name the new training school! We can't reveal the name yet... logo under construction.
Sakyie was hired in April 2011 when SPCA Tampa Bay decided to increase its online communications. Sakyie’s professional experience makes her uniquely suited to assist SPCA Tampa Bay in its new marketing strategy. Prior to joining SPCA Tampa Bay, Sakyie worked with a variety of companies specializing in online communications and design. Over a five year period, she was able to test and evaluate website design strategies that integrated social media. She honed her graphic design skills while she was employed as a sub-contractor with Louisville-based www.freeweblayouts.net where she designed websites, banners and online advertisements. A position with Patch.com gave Sakyie the opportunity to expand her online knowledge by working with calendar events throughout Patch.com’s 14 south Florida websites. She also wrote articles and developed relationships with local community contacts.
In her short time with SPCA Tampa Bay, the organization’s Facebook "likes" have increased by nearly 1,000. Perhaps her most significant success so far was leveraging her savvy at driving online voting to win a new Sienna minivan via a Toyota USA Facebook competition.
