The web photography committee at the SPCA Tampa Bay is comprised of industrious, compassionate, creative volunteers who visually capture the spirit of the animals. The photographs we take and the biographies that we write are posted on our website and viewed by potential adoptive parents.  The website photos have spoken to people countless times and motivated adopters to make the visit to the shelter.

You may see us lying flat on our bellies in the grass, making squawking sounds to get the attention of an otherwise occupied canine.  We may be crawling around the room on all fours, begging a cat to look in our direction or coaxing the rabbits and the rats to smile.  It's not easy to get photos of animals in a shelter environment, but our photographers seem to get the job done.

Join us and you will gain a new appreciation for the "sports" setting on your camera, probably develop the patience of a saint and best of all, get to experience the amazing feeling of being a part of helping an animal find a new home and family.

It's all about the animals!  And getting the best possible photo on the website so their story is seen by as many people as possible to increase their chance to find the best home - for the rest of their lives!  (Plus, it's a lot of fun to make so many furry friends!)

I love photography because it is an art form.  A good photographer only photographs things he loves, so I photograph dogs.  I look through the lens in love, waiting patiently for that one moment in time.  I'm rewarded as he opens a window to his soul.  To be able to freeze an expression of love for others to view is the reason why I volunteered and what inspires me are the SPCA Tampa Bay shelter dogs.

I love animals more than anything in the world and it gives me great pleasure to be able to help them by means of my photography.  Photography is a hobby for me and I strive to improve on this everyday, especially in regards to volunteering at the SPCA.  I want to be able to open the eyes of the public and show them the beauty of a shelter animal.  A good day for me is a day spent at the shelter photographing these beautiful animals. They say volunteering adds seven years to one's life, but I think you also get so much more when working with shelter pets.  No matter what their story or how they found themselves at the shelter, these beautiful creatures are ready to forgive and forget.  They have so much love and just want someone to bestow this love upon.  This is why I come back day after day to give these special animals a chance.
