Hi there! My name is Trixie.  I was just your average happy-go-lucky Jack Russell Terrier,  living la vida loca, until my parents had a baby who developed allergies.  Now I am waiting for the right family to come along and adopt me.  I have put all of my faith in my Canine Counselor and know that I will only be matched up with someone who can handle my unbridled enthusiasm and energy.

Hi, my name is Max.  I am only a year old but I have had a hard life so far.  I was roughing it by myself after I was abandoned, and then I was hit by a car.  My injuries have now healed, and I am going to be put up for adoption.  But who will want to adopt me?  I have no social skills and have never been taught basic obedience.  For example, I think that this leash thing they are trying to lead me around with is really fun to chew on.  Apparently though, this behavior is not desirable.  I really want to be a good dog for my new family - I just don't know how yet.  There is so much I don't know!  Thank goodness for the Family Dog Trainers who are working with me.  They are helping me develop into a well-mannered, educated gentleman that no potential adoptive family will be able to resist!

Being a canine volunteer at the SPCA Tampa Bay means that I always have a place to go where I will find people with the same interests and goals - whether I know them already or not.  I love it that we don't all have the same "favorites" so all the dogs get special attention and love. And my all time favorite thing is that no one cares if you have dog hair on your clothes.

I have always been an animal lover, especially dogs.  I am a wife, Mom of 4, Grandma of 14 and have 5 rescue dogs from shelters. (3 came from SPCA Tampa Bay).  I volunteer 4 days a week, and interacting with these marvelous dogs is my passion!  I feel that I am making a difference in their lives until they find their forever homes.  I continue to volunteer not only for the dogs but for myself too.  I’m hoping, someday, to be the person the dogs think I am.  Also the bond of friendship among the other volunteers and employees is very rewarding as well.  We are all in it together, giving our time and love, to make the shelter the best place we possibly can for our furry friends.-----Life is GOOD when you volunteer at The SPCA Tampa Bay!

I became a canine volunteer with the SPCA to share my love for dogs with dogs who probably need it the most - dogs in transition from one home to another.  I'm honored to give my time and energy to such a worthy organization and noble cause.  Helping dogs get adopted is one of the most heartwarming feelings in the whole wide world!
